How to write what you cannot quite say

Three small questions that turn a blank card into a sentence you mean.

Most people do not struggle because they have nothing to say. They struggle because they have too much, and all of it arrives at once.

Start smaller. Ask who it is for, and picture them reading it, not the whole of them, just the moment their eyes reach the card. What is their face doing?

Then ask what you want them to feel when they put it down. Loved? Proud? Less alone? One feeling is enough. A card that tries to say everything usually says nothing.

Finally, choose how much to say. A single line can be braver than a paragraph. A paragraph can hold what a single line cannot. Neither is more sincere; they are just different rooms.

That is all Find the Words is: those three questions, asked gently, and a few cards that already speak in the voice you were reaching for.

Ready to say it?
